[0:00] So, I'm going to show you the company that I think is just super dystopian. All right. So, there's a little bit of a website today called Malice. Liberate website today called Malice. Liberate opensource. Now, what does Malice do, you ask? What pray does Malice do? Which, by the way, I love this. Uh, if you zoom in, notice that it's like left aligned here. If you zoom in, it's it's centered. Cool, man. Hey, cool. [0:33] Cool website, dog. Really, really think you're really think you're pretty awesome. Anyway, so what they do is that they take a proprietary AI robots, independently recreate any open-source project from scratch. The result, legally distinct code with corporate friendly licensing. No attribution, no copy left, no problems. So I thought this was satire. Okay, [1:04] honestly I thought so. So so so okay. So yes, someone said this is satire, right? It's a satire website. So I that's what I thought. I thought it was a satire website. So just to make sure that it is actually a satire website, I did the only thing you're supposed to do. I went and purchased something. I went and hired them. I went and copied out a little bit of a project. Oh, good [1:35] thing I didn't do that. Anyways, okay, good. This right here is how much it would take to copy some project. I forget if it's React or something like that, right? You could copy some larger project. All right, but then I was going through and I decided to buy Malice. Now, I can't remember if I can click this one or not, so we're just not going to click it. I bought malice. Okay. I bought Dude, I thought I just I thought I just docked myself here. Hold on. Let me just see if I can show this one. I mean, it has my session ID. [2:08] The problem is I don't even know what session ID could possibly do or not do in this situation. Okay. I don't even know if I could get screwed or not screwed with it. I don't know what could possibly happen. So, we're just not going to click it. Anyways, so I bought it and oh, there's my session ID. Anyways, uh there we go. So, I was able to clone out is number and left pad. All right. Fantastic. Well, there goes my session ID. Not really sure what it is. There it is. Um then I was able to do this. This [2:39] then I was able to do this. This is is number, right? Just leaked a little bit. I leaked a little bit. A little bit of cinema, people. Look, this is is number. And if you go over here and you go to uh is let's see uh what did I call this one? Malice. Did I call malice? What the heck? Oh no. I called it test because I just didn't even think it was true. Uh I did is number real. Let's go into here. Let's do that and go right to here. Here is is number. So that that's one. Here's what I got [3:11] back out. What I did is I took the contents of his What I did is I took the contents of his number. Yes, I took the contents of it. Whoopsies. Uh, and I Let's see. Hold on. We can do this again. I can go like this. I can jump in here and I can go CD is number real. And I can go uh node is number real. And I can go uh node test. Uh, what is it? Uh, npm run test. There we go. 111 passing things. I can copy over here from is number the fake one [3:43] that I got generated. And I'm going to put that right here. Rerun test all 111 put that right here. Rerun test all 111 pass. Yeah. Yeah, it copied it copied. They're they're vastly different. I paid uh I paid uh 50 cents for this. Just a quick f Just a quick fitty. just quick fitty for uh for these two things. And so that means uh dang it. Why do I keep doing that? Uh index. [4:14] Oh my gosh. I don't have a couple things set up, so it keeps acting goofy here. Okay, so I have this running right here. So, okay, let me uh pull up this guy and then let's go over here. Oh, see I have node modules. Everything's screwed up. Okay, this is not some thing I want to do. So, there you go. You can see that it it's very very different. This one uses number is finite. This one actually generates an is finite on here. Checks to see if it's not a, you know, it does a couple different things right here. And then it does this whole like value equals value. [4:45] This one does num minus num equals zero. This one says so this one is different. So it does check like hey if you are a number then is finite number which is funny because it rechecks for ready. Like this is like the most classic AI generated code of your lifetime. Like look at this. Look at look at that. The most classic of all time. very annoying. Yeah. Anyways, so that's what [5:15] that is what we're seeing right here is that Malice appears to be a legitimate company. I thought this wasn't a legitimate company because honestly these things these things read so stupid. Is your legal team frustrated with attribution clause? Tired of putting portions of this software in your documentation? Those maintainers worked for free. Why should they get worked for free. Why should they get credit? That reads like satire, right? Like that that's satire, right? [5:47] No, it does not appear to be satire. Does your company forbid AGPL code? One wrong import and suddenly your entire proprietary codebase must be open sourced. The horror. That's actually true. I I do hate viral licensing. So, I actually I mean I agree in the theoretical that I hate like GPL. Uh I really dislike the virality of it. I just don't use whatever is GPL. You know what I mean? Like call me oldfashioned. I just don't use it. License compliance overhead, tracking licenses around hundreds of dependencies, legal reviews [6:18] taking weeks, third party audits, finding issues. What if you could just not deal with any of that? Now, here's the craziest part of it all. Are you ready for the craziest part? We thought AI was coming for our jobs. AI went for legal first. I'm just throwing it out there. They just straight up went for legal first. [6:50] Somehow they they're bypassing around legal at companies. Crazy. Uh yes, the site is satire. Obviously it it Well, it sounds like satire except for you can do it except for it works and you pay money for it. How like really like how long is satire? When does satire stop? I was able to pay money. I was able to copy a library. No, it's not both. There is no such [7:21] thing as both. That's the thing is it can't be both. if you take money. You can't be like, "Yo, it's a joke." Also, that that'll be $100. It's like, "Sorry, that's not uh that's not how satire works." Like, satire's where you make a joke and then people go, "Oh, that's funny." They're making fun of something. Comedians get paid for jokes. Shut up, Zanus. It's a prank, bro. Bro, it's a Zanus. It's a prank, bro. Bro, it's a prank. [7:54] prank. No, no, no, not at all. Anyways, so I just thought that this was just like horrible. I'm going to do an actual video on this. I just thought I'd just show you guys. Uh, this is I I think this honestly, I'm just being real. think that this was completely uh I think this was just completely AI generated website by a company that's just simply trying to make money and just simply trying to make money and that's
